pampeano's stockist of the month is A Hume, based in the historic town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders. A Hume is an award-winning destination for country clothing, that has been a family run business ever since it first opened its doors in 1929. Today, you can find them set across two stores in Kelso. Spot an advert for A Hume 'Ladies and gent's tailoring' in this cutting from 1939!

The store continues to offer a bespoke service, creating made to measure pieces and continuing a heritage of traditional tailoring and craftsmanship.

Kelso is home to a National Hunt Racecourse. From September to May, a number of exciting racing events are held right here in the Scottish Borders, making Kelso a fantastic destination for fans of equestrian pursuits. Each belt takes 4 to 5 hours to create, and the stitching of traditional pampa designs is so carefully intricate that it can only be achieved by the hand of a true artisan. Below are our favourite picks from A Hume's collection of pampeano belts.

All of our belts are unisex, and many are available in skinny sizes, for smaller frames. A skinny belt can be wrapped at the waist or threaded easily through a pair of jodphurs.

 

 jugadoro

The jugadoro is totally timeless, with deep navy and cream threads that remind us instantly of a Breton shirt and holidays by the sea.

Pair your jugadoro with a pair of dark chinos for formal occasions, and wear with a pale blue shirt to bridge the contrast in this striking design.

escocia

The escocia polo belt takes you halfway across the world, on a journey from the polo fields of Argentina to its namesake in Scotland. This is a wonderful belt to purchase at A Hume, who is based in the very landscape that inspired the escocia.

In designing this belt, we have combined fresh green, with pink and violet, just like the famous Scottish primrose and the purple heather that sweeps over the sides of the crags and glens in the highlands.

The multi is a wonderfully vibrant belt that tells the story of our roots in La Pampa, Argentina. With saddlery threads in sky blue, racing green, bright red, cream and navy, there is no colour in your wardrobe that won't be complemented with the edition of a multi threaded through the belt loops.

Each polo belt is rounded off with the addition of an antique-style brass buckle.

 

 

principe

On the principe, you will find cream coloured pampa diamonds, set out like crowns around the belt that each encompass a single ruby red panel in their centre.

The principe is a regal design, that shows much more of our gorgeous vegetable tanned leather. Our signature Havana brown Argentinian leather forms the band of all of our polo belts. It's thick yet supple quality is what sets our belts apart from the rest, with stunning handstitching achieved using traditional, wax-dipped saddlery threads.

hermoso

The hermoso features that classic combination of navy blue and pale pink, with alternating panels featuring pampa diamonds. The handstitched pattern allows for traditional diamond shapes to be displayed in the leather.

All of the belts in our collection are crafted from premium grade stirrup leather, vegetable tanned in a traditional manner and finished to give that buttery soft, irresistible feel for which we are known.
